Thomas Kinkade is well-known for his pastoral landscapes, idyllic cottages, and enchanting gardens. While he loved painting the flowers that populated these works, it wasn’t until 2002 that Kinkade formally painted a still-life of flowers titled “Lilac Bouquet.” "Flowers are nature's paintbrush, adding beauty, color, and fragrance to our world. I've painted flowers for years, but rarely have I painted still-lifes. “Lilac Bouquet” features an assortment of flowers celebrating the beauty of spring,” Kinkade said when describing this painting.

"There's this need we have as artists to capture little slices of daily life. A still-life is just a little fleeting touch of beauty. You take some flowers, put them in a vase, and try to capture them."
